If you think that you have been infected with Xupiter spyware, then you really need to read this article. Xupiter is a browser hijacker with an interesting past. No matter how interesting, it is important to know that it is very dangerous. Xupiter is an Internet Explorer toolbar that will direct you to search engines including browserwise.com, sqwire.com, and orbitexplorer.com. These sites are marketed towards the interests of Xupiter’s 3rd party affiliates. The installation is silent and usually occurs at the same time as another download. In the past, it was an ActiveX installation and has recently been bundled with Grokster (software that is associated with peer to peer-P2P-file sharing communities). If you have been infected with this toolbar, expect to find various pop-ups including inappropriate or offensive adult content. Xupiter will download 3rd party applications. Online Casino Software has been a common add-on with this program. System crashes are also common. On June 9, 2006, Xupiter was laid to rest. The father/son duo Saeid and Daniel Yomtobian created this software and claimed to cease and desist it from that point forward. This team has been brought up on several charges for using misleading advertisements and misspelling commonly used commercial websites to infect with adware. Recently, the Xupiter toolbar resurfaced registered under a Hungarian domain. Removing this program is not easy. You can’t just go to your Add/Remove button and expect it to disappear. If you have caught it in the early stages, you still have a chance to remove it with a good anti-spyware program. Making sure your firewall settings are high will give you a warning of the spyware, but it can’t stop it. Research is essential. You need to eliminate the spyware completely so, your next challenge is to decide which program actually works. Finding a program with a 24 hour removal guarantee with recognition and rewards is the best way to go. Then you can save time and surf the Internet free of malicious toolbars like Xupiter.
